Daily Diary #4 : Birthday Parties and School Assemblies

Saturday 15th November

Tonight there's a party at my house to celebrate my Dad's 40th birthday, however, I'm not invited! It's just his siblings and friends, meaning I've been sent to my grandparents along with all my little cousins between the ages of 0-5; I'm in for a fun night! ;) 

I've spent today helping my Mum decorate the house and I have to say it looks fab! She surprised my Dad with a new shirt, trainers and wedding ring (his has gone really dirty and wrecked from work) when he got home for him to wear tonight at the party and then while he got ready in his new attire, I was shipped off to 'play group' aka my nanna and grandad's! 

I mentioned in an earlier 'Daily Diary' that I had written to the head about talking more openly in school about mental health. Since that post we've spoken to the head and the assistant head and together with them, me and my friend are going to plan assemblies to present to the school, sometime after Christmas. Hopefully this should help open peoples minds on the topic of mental health.

I just thought I'd share it on my blog too as I think it's absolutely brilliant! I relate to this picture so much, especially at my age as many teenagers live to fit in with the crowd. Every outfit they where, every song they play is just to fit in and be the same.

However I think we should aim to be different. Aim to stand out. Aim to be noticed.

Candle Collection

One of the things I love most is candles. I think fire is so pretty so I love the look of a burning candle and I also love all the different scents you can get. I think I get my love of candles from my mum as we have many, all around the house! I do have a fair few of my own though in my bedroom so I thought I'd share them with you! 

The first one I have is this little guy- 

This little owl candle is from primark. I think it's the cutest candle ever. To light it you have to take his little head off (brutal I know!) like in the picture below- 

He smells faintly of vanilla, my favourite scent,, and although I can't remember exactly how much he cost, he can't have been much so I think for such a cute candle, it's definitely good value for money! 

The next candle I have is this one, which I keep next to my bed- 

It doesn't really have much of a scent but I love the quote on the front, because as you know I love my little inspirational messages! This was a present from my mum on my birthday and it's so cute. It says 'Believe anything is possible'.

The third candle in my room is this one- 

This is the most boring candle in my bedroom. It's got a scent that I'd describe as quite heavy and deep, although I don't think that will make much sense. It isn't a strong smell and doesn't make the room smell of anything, you can only smell it when you're close to the candle. The scent is basically the opposite of anything floral or fruity, that's the best way I can say it I think!

Although it's pretty boring it's a really good size and will last me a while and I also love the deep berry colour- my favourite in autumn/winter! One thing I will say though, is that because it isn't in any sort of jar, when it burns it turns a funny shape, as you can see by the picture. It's actually not even meant to have the little glass 'coaster' type thing underneath, I bought that separately from ikea. 

While we're on the topic of boring candles, the next ones I have are these three that come in a little set-

There's a cream one, a pink one and a purple one. I really like the colours and the patterns on the sides, so I actually just use these as decoration and as you can tell by the dust that has gathered on them, I haven't burnt them in a very long time! 

My next candle is my favourite! It's this Yankee candle in the scent 'vanilla frosting'- 

This is my all time favourite scent! I love the scent of vanilla and this is the best I've ever smelt! I cannot talk highly enough of this candle; it's just perfect! If you want to hear more about it however, read my October Favourites post! 

The final candle I have in my bedroom is this one- 

This was a present off my best friend for my last birthday and I absolutely love it! It sums me up perfectly! It's a candle, with a quote and in the scent vanilla! Amazing! 

This is called a candle of inspiration and is so cute! I love the idea of it having a quote and I like the design on the front. This also ties in nicely with my October Favourites, as the quote on the front was my favourite quote of the month, so if you want you can go and read about that!

I'm So Lucky...

Recently I came across THIS article about a little boy named Ben who is just 9 years old. Ben has a condition which is slowly taking away his eye sight and soon he will be completely blind. This article really touched me and made me think how lucky I am, not just to have my sight, but for many other reasons too. I thought I'd share them with you:

1, I have a house that I get to come home to every night. It isn't a mansion, but it has four walls and a roof, and that's all we need.

2. I get to eat three meals a day, every day, and if I wanted I could eat much more than that.

3. My mum has always tried to give me everything I wanted and pretty much always has.

4. We don't have much money compared to some people, but we're rich compared to others.

5. I have a huge family that I know are always there for me and who I love dearly. 

5. So far, I have been in education for 11 years of my life and I'm still not finished. This is so much more than some get in a lifetime. 

6. I have eye sight. It isn't perfect and I need to wear glasses on the computer, or while reading, but I can see and that's something some people can only dream of.

7. I can hear. I know the sounds of my family and friends voices, of sweeping a floor, of sizzling bacon and of singing birds. Something that others can only imagine. 

7. I have close friends that would support any choices I made in life and that regularly tell me they love me. But they are also honest enough to tell me the truth, even if it hurts, for my own good.

8. I get to choose what I wear every day, from a wardrobe full of clothes, instead of having nothing or just having to wear something because it's all I have.

9. I live in a part of the world where ( on the whole ) I'm free to wear what I want, act how I want, be what I want and live how I want, without being in danger.

10. I do not live in a part of the world where I would be discriminated against for being female. Where I wouldn't be allowed an education or a job or to choose who I marry. 

I am comfortable in being me. 

Somehow I've come to accepted who I am. I may not like, certain things about myself and might wish to change some things if I had the chance, but on the whole I'm happy. 

I'm extremely lucky compared to a lot of people so I don't think it's fair of me to stress about the little things that go wrong, or the things I don't like about myself, as there are many, many people who could only dream of a life like mine, however ordinary it may seem.

My Favourite Things About Reading

Being able to visualise the scene, the person, the setting in your mind because the author's description is so accurate. 

The smell of a new book and the smell of an old book.

The sound when you turn a page.

The feeling before you start a book of  holding pages that will determine the lives, emotions and fate of characters you're yet to discover.

Building a relationship with the characters yourself, and feeling the emotions with them.

Not being able to start a new book too soon after the old book because you're still living in the previous fantasy place.

The amount of time and effort that has gone into each and very word by the talented authors.

Judging everyone you meet in real life based on characters you've met in books.

Losing yourself in a story and forgetting where you are and what time it is.

Day/Moment-  

One of my favourite moments of the month was by far bonfire night! I won't go on about it too much as I have written a blog post about it so you can go and read about it there and see some photos, but it was absolutely breathtaking and I'd reccomend to anyone to do the same thing we did!! 

My second favourite moment of the month is also one of my proudest moments ever! Although it's only small I did an essay in November which was a 2 hour exam about Romeo and Juliet and was worth 10% of my English Literature GCSE. This is the first thing I've done that actually goes towards my real GCSEs so I was really nervous to get the result back but.... 

I got an A* !!!!! 

I can't believe it! It's only 10% so that by no means says I'm going to get an overall A* when I finish the full course, but I'm so proud that I got it on that essay because I put so much work in to it! I have another essay for this GCSE on Thursday which is worth 15% but this one is a lot harder so I'm quite nervous about this one! But we'll just have to wait and see! 

Clothing-

My favourite clothing item has been a pair of mittens! I've been practically living in them on cold nights during November.

I've had a few favourite songs this month! 

The first is Sex by the 1975. I really like this song, however I much prefer covers of it when the song is slowed down.

The second song I've been loving is American dream by MKTO. I liked the song Classic by them but then this came out and although it's a little cheesy, and not my normal music taste, I absolutely love it and it's quite a happy, feel good song!

The final song I've been playing on repeat lately is by Sam Smith and is called Like I Can. 

Yet again, I love this song! I always really like Sam Smith's songs but then they get overplayed on the radio and I go off them, but so far I haven't heard this on the radio and I bloody love it!

Random- 

My random favourite of the month is a lip scrub. 

This is called Lip Service and is from Lush. I sometimes struggle to wear lipstick because I have very cracked and chapped lips so lipstick doesn't sit right on me, however if I apply this before lipstick it makes my lips completely smooth and lipstick sits perfectly. I love the taste and smell of it too! I want to say it's lemon flavour/scent, but I'm not sure! 

Makeup- 

My favourite makeup item of the month is this palette from Bodycare. It has very colour you could need, from bright blue and green, to neutral browns and oranges.

This palette cost £3 or £4 which is pretty ridiculous for the amount you get and I have to say these eyeshadows are the best I've ever used! They are so pigmented and shimmery. They are far better than the eyeshadows I have from Clinique and when I use up this palette I will definitely be repurchasing!

Quote- 

I love this quote! It's definitely become one of my favourites, not just in November, but of all time! 

I didn't know who Walter Bagehot was, but after a little research I found that he was a British journalist, businessman, and essayist, who wrote extensively about government, economics, and literature. I found this really interesting because I'm very interested in government and literature myself! 

I like this quote so much because I find at my awkward age of 15, I'm very quickly approaching adulthood and I am quite quickly getting a more mature mindset. However, all of my family and teachers still think I'm young and immature, and where I might still be young, I'm far from immature! I have valid opinions and thoughts and I'm passionate about different things, however I'm never taken seriously. One of the things I'm passionate about is going to university when I'm older. I really want to go and I'm pretty certain on the career paths I might want to take. However I still find that a lot of people think I'm still a child and my choices will change within a few weeks and I'll all of a sudden want to do something else, which I know is not the case. Therefore, I will find the greatest of pleasure in 6/7 years time, when I storm out of that university with my degree in hand and that hat on my head and get to show everyone how serious I was!

October Favourites

It's about time I showed you my favourites of October!

Skincare: Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash

  

I've loved using this face wash recently. It was a new buy in October and I've used it everyday since! (Well nearly everyday, I sometimes forgot, I'm only human!) It comes out as a clear gel. I use my hands to apply it to a wet face and when you begin rubbing it in it starts to foam. I just wash it off with a wet flannel and I'm done! I use this inbetween toner and moisturiser just as an extra clean and cleanse and so far I've loved it! 

Haircare: Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner 

I've always been a fan of Aussie products, especially the scent of them! However this is by far my favourite! I always wash my hair at night. After washing my hair I normally leave it in a hair turban for several hours until I go to sleep. When I take my hair down I spray this all through it and massage it in and it just helps my hair stay in tip-top condition!

Day- Aimee's Halloween Party!

Now this might be cheating a little as the party was actually on 1st November, however it's related to Halloween which is in October so I'm going to talk about it anyway! It was so much fun and I actually spoke about it more in length in a previous blog post so go and find that! It was a fancy dress party and I, obviously, went as hermione granger!! My other blog post has pictures of my outfit and where I got everythin from so go take a look at that! 

Makeup- Avon Mocha Latte Quad

I've really been enjoying using this set of eyeshadows. They're well pigmented and lovely colours, although they come out slightly darker than you'd think. I've especially been loving using the dark brown to fill in my eyebrows. I would ne'er normally fill in my eyebrows but this is just the right colour for them without being too dark! 

The second makeup item I've been loving is a blush from No.17 in the shade Nude.

 

I never change the blusher I use because I've always stuck with my firm favourite from accsessorize! However this one is slowly changing my mind, I absolutely love it! It's subtle at first but can be easily built up to a more obvious colour. It's a different shade to what I'd normally wear, as it's a little darker, but it really complements my skin tone.

I loveeeee this song!! It was featured in my autumn playlist blog post so you can find a link to it there! I don't really have much of a reason for liking it so much I just do and I especially love acoustic versions of songs! 

Item of Clothing- Black Skater Skirt from New Look

I've had this skirt for ages but after neglecting it for months I've finally rediscovered it and I love wearing it again! It's perfect for autumn over leggings or tights and just goes with everything! If you want to see it properly have a look at my 'Girly Grunge' post.

Quote- If you can dream it you can do it..

I love my quotes and lately I've really liked this one! I have it on this little heart which hangs off the handle on my bedside cabinet. I've really been liking this quote because I'm so ambitious and have a lot of dreams for the future so I like the idea of if I can dream it, I can do it! Also, I've been doing a lot of work lately towards my GCSEs, so this has helped me with that because if I can dream of good grades, I can get good grades (obviously it comes with hardwork too and not just dreams)! 

Random- Yankee Candle 

My final monthly favourite is this Yankee Candle in the scent 'Vanilla Frosting'. IT IS AMAZING! I've had it for a while but it's always just been sat looking nice and it's only recently that i decided to light it. I can't really describe a scent very well but all I can see is trust me, this smells GOOD!!! 

Daily Diary #3 : Bonfire Night and Magical Times

Wednesday 5th November-

BONFIRE NIGHT!

I love love love bonfire night! I think it's so magical and beautiful and I get my best ideas and my deepest thoughts from just staring up at the night sky as it bursts into colour and light. 

This year I had my most special and magical bonfire night ever. 

I climbed to the top of a giant hill and sat and ate chocolate and snuggled under blankets with two of my closest friends, wearing wooly coats and mittens and we just watched. We watched the night sky erupting across all of Manchester and all of the town we live in. We could see for miles and miles as we sat in awe. It was breathtaking! The view was spectacular and as we sat staring we talked, long, deep conversations, the kind you just get lost in and that could last forever. The sort where you don't want the night to end because the conversation, the moment, could last forever. 

And this is why I love bonfire night!
