My Goals for 2015

For the first time, I am completely unexcited for a new year. I have so much to look forward to in 2016 that 2015 just feels like an annoying waste of time to me. It's only day 2 yet I'm already counting down the hours until next year!

However, I do want to use this 'waste of time' wisely and efficiently. So to motivate myself I'm going to view 2015 as a bit of time to myself and I suppose to develop myself further and prepare for the exciting times awaiting me in 2016.

So that is what I have based this year's goals on. Enjoy...

Read, Read, Read...
I've been a little book worm since I was about 4 years old. When I was younger I could always be found buried in a book; usually Jacqueline Wilson. However as I've got older, especially as the work load at school has piled up, I've found that when it comes to relaxing in the evening I just want to watch tv or YouTube videos, things that don't require any thinking or effort. So this year u want to regain my inner bookworm and read more. I've got plenty of books sitting in my room untouched, dying to be read. I've just signed up to Goodreads and I've set myself a reading challenge of 20 books for this year! So wish me luck!

Strive to be the best version of me...
I love this goal all the more because it rhymes. But keeping in mind my previous post, you'll know that I think it's silly that we only try and change ourselves in the new year! So I'm going to try and change myself to be the best person I can, throughout the year, not just when the next December 31st rolls round.

Care less about what others think...
If you love a song that all your friends hate, turn that song up and celebrate being different! I need to learn to focus more on me and less on others. This might sound incredibly selfish, but I don't mean in terms of giving, helping or loving.  I mean in terms of putting my feelings first. Sometimes I try too hard to please other people. I'll go along with plans that I know I won't enjoy or I'll put myself in situations that make me unhappy because I don't want to disappoint people. However I really think it's time I, sort of, stood up for myself and focused on making sure I'm happy, before I make others happy.

Stand up for issues I'm passionate about...
I'm getting there already on this one. I've began speaking to my friends more about things like homophobia, sexism and gender issues and of course I've written about some important issues on my blog. However, I'm far from reaching a large audience, which is part of the reason I began my blog, as I want to get my voice heard. I've joined my local youth cabinet which I will one day write a post about, however for now I don't think I've been part of it long enough to share my experiences. So this year I want to make sure I continue working on getting my voice heard and I want to ensure that I stick by my passions and spread the word about issues that are important to me.

That's it for this year's resolutions! I hope you enjoyed reading mine and making yours. Good luck with all you do this year! I hope 2015 is kind to you!

New Year, New Me? I Don't Think So...

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great time welcoming in the New Year.

We have once again found ourselves at that point where everybody vows to change. We make resolutions, promising to become a new and better person. We swear we will resolve our issues. Eat healthy, lose weight, travel the world, mend this, change that and sure, many might stick to them and maybe even benefit for the better. But I bet that all, or at least most, of you reading this has promised something one New Year and failed to follow it through. Maybe that sounds depressing or unsupportive, I don't know, but I think the truth is, we all put far too much pressure on ourselves to become a better person just because a New Year has rolled around.

Why is it that we only plan to change ourselves when it's a New Year. Surely we should constantly be trying to better ourselves, whether it's a new year, month, week or day?

So yes, this new year I will make the old stereotypical resolutions. However I will be calling them goals as I feel this word gives you something to aim for but doesn't apply the pressure that a 'resolution' does. I'll be posting my goals for 2015 tomorrow, however this year, one of those goals will be to always try and better myself. Not just because it's a new section of time, but because I want to, always, try and strive to be the best I can be.

Thanks for reading,

What I Got For Christmas- Part 3

I hope you all enjoyed my What I Got For Christmas series! I've really enjoyed writing it and today is my final part which is just all the bits and pieces that didn't fit in to the Fashion or Beauty categories. So let's get started...

Firstly, this year I got several pieces from Stella & Dot. They're an online company selling jewellery and accessories and I strongly recommend you having a look on their site because the things they sell are just beautiful and so is their packaging! This first piece, a necklace, was from my parents.

One of my auntie and uncles also bought me this bracelet from there which is lovely.

Finally, my parents also bought me this bracelet from Stella and Dot. My mum knew I love to have a lucky bracelet and you may have seen it before. However it's getting a bit old and grotty so she bought me this new one to wear for all exams I have, and other times I need a bit of luck. The bracelet is gorgeous and I love the packaging! It says 'Make your own luck'.

I'm not the biggest Zoella fan out there, however I do watch some of her videos, so obviously I heard about Girl Online. I'm excited to read this as it sounds like I'm going to relate to the book quite a lot.

When we moved house a year ago I took the chance to completely redesign the style of my bedroom, meaning I had to buy everything brand new as my old stuff wouldn't match the theme. This means for the past 2 Christmas' and my last birthday my mum has continued to buy me little bits and bobs for my room to fill it up with all the little things needed to make it feel homely. One of the things I got this Christmas was this butterfly which I hang from the Middle of my curtain pole.

The final piece of jewellery I received this year was this little bracelet from H&M which will go with so many of the outfits I wear!

Another book I got this year, which should help me with my New Year Goal of reading more, was Christmas with Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher. I am a hugeeee fan of Giovanna and I love her books so I'm super excited to read this!!!

My and my mum have planned to hang lots of photos on one of the walls in my bedroom, in all different frames of different shapes and sizes, so my mum bought me a few for Christmas to get us started!

This little mouse is made with a very long tail which is designed for hanging your rings on! I think this is such a cute idea and I'm definitely going to put this pride of place on my dressing table!

It isn't Christmas without receiving mounds of chocolate! I should probably add that the bar of white chocolate is from Aldi and I would highly advise you all to go and buy some because it is the nicest chocolate ever! My nanna bought me that bar beause every time I'm staying at her house I ask her to get me some!

This gorgeous little box is what I'm now going to use for storing all of my bracelets. I love the design of this, it's perfect for my room.

So that is it, all of the things I received for Christmas! I loved writing this series and hope you enjoyed reading it as I know I love this kind of post!

Thank you very much for all of your views, follows and comments over the past few months. I've been so overwhelmed by the response I've had, which I know isn't much but it's far more than I imagined I'd recieve in my first 3 months!

Thank you once again! I hope you all have a fabulous night welcoming in the New Year!

What I Got For Christmas- Part 2 : Fashion

Welcome to the second part of my What I Got For Christmas series! Today I'll share with you all the fashion bits and pieces I received this Christmas. Here goes...

Firstly was this top from River Island. I actually knew I was going to be getting it as I was with my mum when I saw it and she offered to get it me, but I had to wait till Christmas Day to open it. I don't normally like sleeveless tops very much but I really liked the design of this.

Secondly was this backpack from New Look. I have a couple of handbags but sometimes I much prefer to use a backpack as it can be easier and more practical. However the only one I had was my school bag which is pretty dirty after using every day, so my mum bought me this to use instead.

These two tops are also from River Island-

The first one I don't think I'll wear for a while as, for me, it's quite bright and colourful (ridiculous I know but I normally only wear black!) So I'll save this until it's ever so slightly warmer!

The final fashion item I received for Christmas was this top. Ignoring the terrible picture with the creases and messed up sleeves, I really like it! I find it quite funny, easily pleased I know, and I liked it even more as I know my mum will have traced it down for me. A little while ago I saw someone wearing it on TV and mentioned that I liked it, so I found it really sweet that she went out and found this for me.

I really hope you enjoyed this post. Come back tomorrow for the final edition of my What I Got For Christmas series.

What I Got For Christmas- Part 1 : Beauty

Today I'm writing the first part of my What I Got For Christmas series. As mentioned in my last post I'm going to be breaking everything up in to sections and today I'm going to show you all of the beauty items I got! So let's get started!

The only thing I asked for, for Christmas this year was the Real Techniques Nic's Picks Collection. I've only used 3 of them so far but I've been loving them and my favourite is definitely the Duo Fibre Face Brush!

This year, one of my aunties got me the Sexy and Scrumptious Benefit Gift Set. It's in a gorgeous tin and contains a highlighter, two lip glosses, eyeshadows, a mascara and a blush. I haven't had chance to use it yet but I love it already as I have been dying to try the highlighter and mascara for ages!

Also this year, my mum surprised me with a few makeup items that I wasn't expecting at all and I couldn't be happier with them!

Firstly she got me the Benefit Instant Brow Pencil. So far I think it's been quite nice. I'm going to have to have a bit more of a play with it though, as I have never used a pencil on my brows before.

I also received 2 things from Mac. The first was this gorgeous lip gloss in the shade Like Venus, which I love so much as it goes with every makeup look I wear!

The second is this lovely blush in the shade DollyMix. I am obsessed with blush, I don't even wear that much of it but it's one of, if not, my favourite makeup item so I was so happy to receive a Mac one and I really like this colour.

The best, and last, beauty product I received this year was the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette!! I have been longing for one of the naked palettes for so long and although I mentioned that I like them, I did not expect to get one, so I am so happy with it and have been looking after it like its my baby, ever since Christmas Day!!

So there are all the beauty products I received this year for Christmas. I hope you enjoyed this post and if you come back at the same time tomorrow I will be posting another part of my What I Got For Christmas series which will be the Fashion section.

*Just like all other bloggers I wanted to add that my 'what I got for christmas' posts are not intended to be seen as me showing off or bragging in any way. I, like many others, love to see what people got for Christmas and I want to document it to look back at when I'm older, so I apologise if you do not like these posts but I will be back to normal again in a couple of weeks.*

Christmas Day 2014!

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a fabulous 25th of December and if you celebrated Christmas I hope that it was happy and filled with fun and laughter!

I thought I'd share a few pictures of what I got up to this Christmas Day...

Once again, I hope you all had a fab day and in the next few weeks I will hopefully write my 'What I Got For Christmas' posts. I think that instead of writing quite a long post, I will instead break my gifts into several smaller posts, such as beauty, fashion and homeware, so I can write a little more about each item. I hope you like this idea.
